The Biennale at Giardini

The second major location for the Beinnale art exposition is in a park where countries have constructed permanent buildings, many going back to the 1930s. Here's Israel's building, decorated this year with tires:

Our favorite exhibit was from Japan: "The Key in the Hand"

The Canadian exhibit had strange "stores" and "workshops"

France had "liberated" trees that moved autonomously, both inside and outside,  to sounds generated from their "electrical rustling".

Another one of our favorites was from Serbia: "United Dead Nations" represents countries that no longer exist by flags in piles on the floor.

Not much of the art is traditional wall paintings, but here's one from Japan that I liked, showing students metamorphosing into their laboratory instruments.

Even the cafe is a work of art.
